All In One

So how awesome is shopping in Bangkok? Well, I basically got the whole outfit sans the shoes and bag from Bangkok! I’m not a brand-conscious type of guy so I guess that’s one of the reasons why I enjoyed shopping in their ‘wholesale’ fashion malls, even their markets (chatuchak, Pratunam, Khao San). As long as it suits my style and it fits my budget, I’ll get it.

I found this pair of drop-crotch pants in Platinum Mall. The store was closed and I patiently waited for the saleslady to arrive because I knew these pants were perfect. I was able to get it at a big discount. Yay me.

The pants are actually really comfortable that I decided to go back to the store and buy another one during our last day in Bangkok. I got a different color. Luckily, the saleslady remembered me and gave me a bigger discount! #SCORE

As for the shirt, I got a lot of tank tops from that store. Before going to Bangkok, I already told myself to look for nice tank tops or as we call it ‘sando’. It was quite a challenge looking for good tank tops in that mall. I found this particular store that sold tank tops and their designs quickly grabbed my attention. I panicked

I got the cap in Pratunam Market by accident. I wasn’t planning on buying anything from Pratunam Market when I saw this cap. I already have this kind of cap but in different colors. I knew I needed to buy myself a black one… or was it just impulse buying?

The shoes are Chuck, dumbo. jk.

Last Night In Bangkok

Our flight was really early the next day, but we still pushed to go out that night since we knew we’re going to miss this place so much. True enough, until know, we talk about Khao San.

Before we got to Khao San, we had a little adventure, wherein we were taken to different places because the taxi driver told us that it was dangerous in Khao San. Still, after going to one Thai restaurant and Pat Pong, we decided to push it to Khao San.

This kid had been in the same spot since we first went to Khao San. I felt bad for him even if he was smiling all the time. I knew that he was already sleepy and tired. It was a good thing that the people were nice to him. The tourists even played with him.

This beer is actually really good. This was the cheapest beer sold in this particular bar.

alcohol overdose

What I love most about Khao San is the people. They are all very energetic. Some would dance on the streets without caring who’s watching them. We even saw some guys making a video.

Pat and Ja

Tin and I

Tourists eating Thai street food! It’s funny how I don’t feel like a tourist in Bangkok. Haha maybe because people there don’t see me as a tourist too because we look the same.

We went inside a street along Khao San and found a wall filled with graffiti art. Along that thin road were artists selling their creations. This particular guy was selling his own artworks while making some more. The smallest were sold for only 100 Baht! This is the kind of artists that I look up to.

Shoes were also sold in that street, or as we Filipinos call it ‘iskinita’. I didn’t bother asking how much the shoes were because I might get tempted to buy. Haha. Suede was everywhere!

The hip hop in me just couldn’t contain it. #lol

This has got to be the best visual merchandising ‘bangketa style’ I’ve seen! I wanted to buy every color just cause they all looked so beautiful together. I think she’s the one who made those tees too! She was so accommodating and friendly.

Ugh. Beautiful.

We went home at around 2. We all bought Khao San tops and we’re all excited to wear them.

Time to sleep! Our flight was too early for our lives.

I will miss Bangkok! Especially Khao San and Platinum Mall. I plan to go back within the year with the same people.

Bangkok| Central World

On our 3rd and 4th day, we decided to check out another mall, which was Central World. It was near the hotel, so after going to Pratunam Market, we rode the tuk tuk (motorcycle taxi) to Central World.

The first thing we did was eat. Of course, I ate the usual fried chicken and Hainanese chicken.

I love Thai humor.

Made In Candy! My new favorite candy haha.

Candy makers in action. It was amazing watching them make the candies. I’ve always wondered how these rock candies were made.

Ciao

Bangkok Day 2 (2/2)| Buddhas, Wholesale Fashion and Khao San

On our second night, we decided to go to one of Bangkok’s night markets, Khao San.

We were greeted with a lot of food, clothes and accessories upon our arrival. It was like a big party, kind of what I envision Ibiza to be… (someday, someday) I was too excited to see what this night market has to offer that I, again, forgot to take photos of some really great stuff that were sold there. Sarreh.

I was seriously considering getting this done to me.

Leather bags were everywhere! I wasn’t able to find the backpack that I was searching for. Hay…

Tank tops were in every block!

At first, I thought she was selling the dogs. Turned out, she was actually asking for donations so that she can keep her dogs. I love her.

Pink Pussy. We were surprised to see some accessories sold by big retail brands here.

This was my favorite stall. I saw two awesome shirts here.

Bangkok Day 2 (1/2)| Buddhas, Wholesale Fashion and Khao San

Our second day in Bangkok was a delight. We were able to visit a lot of places. First, we went to the temples. We visited the Grand Palace and the temple where the Reclining Buddha was.

The Grand Palace took my breath away. It was astonishing, particularly this golden temple. Golden plates were embedded to the entire exterior of the temple.

Here’s me. I was supposed to wear a tank top #asusual, but the tour guide made me change my shirt and pants. So, here.

Thailand really loves intricate details.

Of course, I needed to have another photo. lol

Our next stop was the temple where the Reclining Buddha was. My friends already told me when we were still in Manila that this particular buddha was so enormous that the whole body would not fit in one photo. Well, I guess they weren’t over exaggerating.

Part 2 is about Khao San, our favorite place in Bangkok.

Bangkok Day 1 (Temples and Jatujak)

Bangkok was the second on our list and I’m very glad that we were able to make this happen! Our first trip was Hong Kong last year, and after that we decided to make it a ‘tradition’. ells

For this trip, I made sure that I won’t get any money from my parents, so for the past year, I’ve been trying to earn and save as much. #yeamen

We arrived in Bangkok at around 10 am ( I think) and our tour guide brought us straight to the temples after we leaving our bags at the hotel. Whew.

First stop was the Golden Buddha.

I paid special attention to the details of the temples: the sculptures, colors, and paintings.

Check this one out, the whole interior of the temple was hand-painted with this design. #effort!

And here it is, the Golden Buddha! Notice the intricacy of everything surrounding the Buddha.

Spotted these two monks crossing the street while we’re on our way to the next destination. They were the first of the countless monks I saw in Bangkok.

Next stop: Standing Buddha

After the temples, we went to a jewelry shop. It was an SOP according to the tour guide. We actually went to another jewelry shop on our second day, with a different tour guide. Anyway, I wasn’t able to take photos there so I’ll go straight to our final and most exciting stop (for me): Jatujak/Chatuchak weekend market.

Check out these rings! I regret that I only bought 3!

There were a lot of cool stuff sold at Jatujak, but I got so preoccupied that I forgot to take photos.

Pets were also sold at the weekend market.

Food was also everywhere! Yumm

Fried chicken in Bangkok is to die for, regardless of the store!

To all the Jessica Sanchez fans out there!

I bought a studded denim vest from this guy and chatted with him while waiting for my friend. He turned out to be a big Lady GaGa fan.

Cowboys

Amen. Cute couple

On our way to the train station, we spotted more items! I was supposed to buy one for my sister but I wasn’t sure what her size was. boo.

Zara-eque Forever 21-esque tops sold at the streets.

Wrong train station

We got lost along the way and just decided to eat at a random eatery. When you’re in Bangkok, you can actually eat anywhere and be satisfied.

A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

Now, this is kinda late. Anyway, here it goes, our trip to promise land.

These boots that Jamie, Ivy and I bought were on sale in H&M! They were sold at $299(women’s) and $399(men’s). Kinda cool, right? I was planning to get the one with the green sole but ended up picking the all black one instead.

And so we’ve arrived! :-)

Portia and her swimsuit

This whole outfit I got from 5cm was on sale! Haha The pants were big though but heck, they looked good.

Bunnies are so out!

The Parade. So. Many. Kababayan! My friends and I wanted to try working here haha we want to experience smiling all day.

Here is where the magic begins…

I have to say, everything looked stunning! Brought back old memories

Oh, also bumped into some of my old friends. Can’t believe they still looked the same after all these years! Wonder what their secret is…

This is where it had to end.

SUNBURNT!

That’s it for us!

Rub-a-dub-dub! [hk day 4]

Day four. Last day of HK Fashion Week… for us. The day started out to be fine, same routine, breakfast, plans. We all got up early, ate at Uncle 4, rode the MTR and attended the seminar.

On our way to the elevator…

My turn :-P

We had a long break after the first seminar so we decided to go outside and eat in this Pinoy restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, it was closed and we had to look for another place to eat, Thank God for the 7/11’s in almost all the corners of HK! As usual, we ate Garlic Noodles.

Now, these are my new found loves. Say hello to Mochi Ice! They cost around 10HKD for two packs! How awesome is that!

Also, I’ve been eyeing on this drink since day 1. I decided to give it a try and boy did it taste goooood. Again, say hello to Jolly Shandy, another addition to the loves of my life.

We had plenty of time before the next seminar and I have a very short attention span so…

Jump shots!

Style Sight seminar. Our favorite! They presented 4 themes per speaker and after each theme, I just wanted to start designing!

More jump shots!

And that’s it for us

Fashion Week was a success! Yeah!

After the seminar, we headed to Silvercord to eat. Jamie’s parents treated us to Din Tai Fung! Yayy!

Yuuummm!

Of course, we all went to H&M after :-P

OH! But before that, I found the IT outlet and kinda died there.

We literally closed the store

That’s day 4 for us! Two more days and it’s bye bye HK. :-(

Hong Kong [day 3]

Day 3 and we’re still not getting enough of Hong Kong! Our itinerary for the day was quite simple compared to the past day.

We attended a seminar about fashion forecasting and went to Mongkok. That’s about it. :-)

I woke up early. Actually, I thought I was the earliest until Yana knocked on our door with a glass of coffee in her hand. Haha. She was already hyper, jumping outside our room saying good morning. Hahaha

Tin and I at Uncle 4 where we ate our breakfast. Their sausages are to die for.

Pat, Yana and Tine

Me :-P

I don’t know why, but every time we pass by this pillar, I take a photo.

I love this shot of Tin

On our way to Wan Chai for the fashion show and seminar

Mr. Michael Leow, a trends forecaster. His talk was verrryyyy informative.

After the show and talk, we went straight to Mongkok.

These mochis made me want to live in Hong Kong. :-)) Serious

Spotted!

DM’s hayy.

And of course. Ladies and gents, the love of my life….

Nearly fainted. kidding

Ivy and I stayed longer in Mongkok to explore more. She bought one of those amazing Fujifilm Instax cameras. I was tempted to buy but held back cause I’d rather buy mochis lol. Hay.. Regrets

And that’s day 3 for us! :-P

Hong Kong [day 2]

Our second day in Hong Kong was probably one of the most tiring but fun days during our whole stay. We went to TSL, Avenue of Stars, Causeway, etc…

Tin preparing the stuff she needs for the long day ahead!

At Uncle 4

First stop of the tour: Avenue of Stars!

With our tour guide, Kristy. She was very friendly and funny! She told us to get her whenever we plan to go back. If not, she’ll go to the Philippines and hunt us down! Haha Cute

Went around even if it was too hot!

This is Jamie having her pic taken. :-P

Haha Pat showed me a link before we went to HK. It was this girl who took self portraits of herself while on air. It was too cool, we needed to try ;-P

Yana and Pat’s heart!

Me. :-P

Ivy and I showing off our mouth ‘blings’

Trial….

Tada!! Photo by Jamie Manaid

During our boat ride :-P

After that boat ride around the floating restaurant, we decided to visit Harry and the gang so went to Platform 9 3/4. Serious.

On our way to Wan Chai for the fashion show and seminar!

Arrived at the venue kinda late but still managed to see the show!

After the show, we went to Central.

Something about the tiles…

MTR, on our way to the hotel

Cause we gangstah!

And that was day 2 for us!
